Call it a day, as you sip on chilled sparkling wine and watch a superb sunset amidst the natural beauty of the Aussie Outback, on this Kata Tjuta sunset tour. Travel in an air-conditioned coach with a driver/guide for company, regaling you with the tales of Anangu, who have been the custodians of Uluru for the past 22,000 years.
The journey to Uluru and the National Park will offer some amazing desert scenery, and if you are lucky, you may even spot some local wildlife like dromedary camels and kangaroos. En route, your guide/driver will tell you all about the creation stories passed down by many generations of the Anangu people. This gives you a better understanding of the spiritual culture associated with the region.
You will arrive at the magnificent Kata Tjuta (also known as the Olgas) well in time to see the visual extravaganza of the setting sun! Literally translated, Kata Tjuta ‘Heads Many’, referring to the 36 steep-sided domes of Kata Tjuta. These incredible rock domes are the aftermath of 500 million years of erosion and extend 6km into the ground. The area is sacred under Anangu men’s law that restrict some essential details of many Kata Tjuta stories are not divulged to uninitiated men.
The visual treat of the setting sun begins with the dramatic changes in colour that reflect on the surface of the sandstone formations at Kata Tjuta. You have a front row seat to this natural wonder, complemented by a glass of chilled sparkling wine and nibbles!
