Head to Kings Canyon National Park on an air-conditioned coach with an expert driver/guide accompanying you. This 4-hour tour takes you to Kings Canyon, located in the heart of Watarrka National Park which is part of the ancient Australian landscape. Learn more about the sacred ground of the Ulpanyali and Lilla people from your guide, who will also enlighten you about the rich Aboriginal history associated with this place en route.
At Kings Canyon, you have the option of two climbs. The Canyon Rim is where you climb through the rocks to the rim of the canyon, from where panoramic views of the Outback can be seen. A three-hour six-kilometre climb, this is not one for the faint-hearted. You have to climb a 100-metre cliff face and walk around the rim of the canyon. You’ll realise it's well worth the effort once you see the expansive views of sandstone walls, grottos, chasms and cliffs!
Your Rim Walk also takes you to the serene Garden of Eden, untouched by man and modernity. Deep down, between two sandstone cliffs, lies this natural spring water hole surrounded exotic plants, trees and enormous prehistoric ferns that is simply a feast for the eyes.
The Creek Bed Walk is ideal if you prefer a less strenuous walk than the Canyon Rim. This two-kilometre stroll along the boulder-strewn creek bed is a shady trail that cuts through two sheer walls of the canyon – an experience that offers views like no other.
