This Great Ocean Road & 12 Apostles tour takes you along the majestic coastal road on a luxury air-conditioned coach. You can look forward to regular stops along the way to leisurely take in the sights and short treks that culminate on a steep cliff face overlooking the vast expanse of the ocean – in short, you get the complete Great Ocean Road experience!
Built by soldiers from World War I and II, the Great Ocean Road starts with the Memorial Arch and then snakes its way along the beautiful coastline, offering magnificent views all through the journey. Your driver/guide also provides interesting commentary along the journey, so you are always kept in the loop of what’s passing and what is yet to come.
You stop at Apollo Bay, a seaside village surrounded by rolling green hills. Enjoy a relaxed lunch (at own expense) from one of the many cafés along the beachfront and later stroll through the village, basking in the laidback atmosphere.
The next stop is the all familiar 12 Apostles, a series of limestone rock formations that stand tall in the ocean. They are limestone rock formations carved by forces of nature over a period of 20 million years. Your guide will be all words when it comes to the 12 Apostles, and we will leave it to them to explain why there are only 9 Apostles now! There are various trails here that take you to some spectacular lookouts and picture postcard photo moments!
See more beautiful works of nature at Loch Ard Gorge, a narrow gorge formed over millions of years of consistent erosion. Named after the ill-fated English ship ‘Loch Ard’ that ran aground in 1878, Loch Ard Gorge is a stunning lookout point that doesn’t bear any of the sombreness associated with the name.
Call it a day at Port Campbell, another pleasant little seaside village surrounded by cliffs, pines and the ocean. Relax over a cup of tea along with some homemade treats (at own expense) from the many cafes. Also indulge in a bit of souvenir hunting wandering along the streets lined with boutique stores and galleries.
